Support for a couple living with Alzheimer's

I see groups for the person with Alzheimer's and groups for caregivers. Are there groups for support for the couple going through that? Thank you.

I’m not sure I understand your question. Could you rephrase it?

I belong to a couples support group that I found through the Alzheimer’s Association. Call 800-272-3900 to see if there are groups in your area.

A Memory Cafe might serve that purpose for you. I say might because the structure of the meetings can vary. The one near me is more of a day-out program with an activity and snack for the PWD and their caregiver. It kind of reminded me of a Mommy & Me class. Other Memory Cafes have coffee and snacks followed by breakout sessions for PWD and caregiver separately.

I attended a more traditional caregiver support group. These meetings is dealing with both the emotional weight of ambiguous loss and strategies for work-arounds for difficult behaviors. Given that many with dementia have anosognosia and can't recognize their impairments, participation could upset or anger the PWD.
