Giving gifts to external caregivers

Just wondering if anyone gives Christmas gifts to your caregivers? We have one that comes in a couple of times a week. My DH is not at the stage yet where he needs a lot of on hands care except making sure he eats a good lunch but she is still there to support him. She does take care of things around the house while she is there and I am very grateful. I was thinking of giving her a gift card for Christmas. Just wondering what others do or if it is even appropriate.
Thanks!

It sounds like a great idea to me.

Absolutely give her a gift. She is a treasure.

Unless she is employed by a company that prohibits direct gifts, I think it would be very appropriate to give her a small gift.
Many facilities do prohibit direct gifts to a particular employee. Where DH resides, general gifts such as cookies, veggie & fruit trays, etc. are allowed but gifts to an individual employee are prohibited. It is always a good idea to check the facility policy before gift giving.

I don't have an external caregiver, but I give my housekeepers a cash Christmas gift every year. I just put a crisp, new bill in a Christmas card and leave it with the money I pay for their work that week.

I have a privately hired caregiver and I will give him something. He is extremely reliable and caring. That is not always easy to find.

I love to "gift". I like to give something making certain the something can be easily exchanged.
