Almost 4 weeks and Christmas

Is there anyone else here just trying to make it through Christmas? I will be so glad when Saturday gets here and the second of two celebrations is done.

It’s almost 4 weeks since Mom passed. Every day I made a list of what to do and I might get 1/3rd of it done. November was spent watching Mom pass so I was way behind on shopping. It was so hard to try to go shopping multiple times in December. No ideas for gifts.

Cleaning my mom’s apartment, dumping a bunch of stuff on my living room floor. Then there was all the assorted phone calls to close mom’s accounts, trips to Office Depot to fax death certificates, and on and on.

And the day I realized I was now an orphan. No more visits to the AL, no more phone calls. I’m not grieving, but yet I must be because why else would I be so lethargic abs having troubling getting motivated to do anything?

Quilting, this is absolutely normal and I am sorry. My husband died 11 weeks ago and I can’t wait until the holidays are over. There is no joy in any of this, only the pain of his very sudden departure. Take your time, go slow, sit down and take a deep breath. Take breaks when you need them. You are grieving, and there is no right or wrong way to do it. The first time I had to check the widowed, divorced or single box on a form just about stopped my heart. Sending hugs to you.
