A funny story

This forum is wonderful for those of us who struggle with caring for our LO.

But I find that there are no funny stories here. We often focus on the hardships, but today, I want to share a story that I consider funny.

Last year, my DW was able to do her own Christmas shopping. She bought me a sweater online and when it arrived, she hid it. Then forgot about it.

Sometime last March we were moving her computer desk to another location and I found the package. “What’s this”, I asked

“Oh, that was your Christmas gift.” She replied.

We laughed about it and I learned a lesson.

This year she is not able to do her own shopping so I circled a pair of jeans in a LL Bean catalog that I wanted, showed it to our part time caregiver, and asked if she would help my DW place the order. She did.

The package arrived. My DW opened the box and hid the jeans. Knowing this could be a problem, I immediately asked where she hid them. “Under my side of the bed”, she answered.

I’m a slow learner. I should have looked.

Two days later I asked the caregiver to help my DW wrap the jeans and told her where my DW hid them.

They were not there.

We all searched the whole house. Twice.

We never found them.

It is my hope to find them before summer.

Next year, I’m canceling Christmas..

Thank you for the laugh. My DH went out to my favorite store while I was at work and he got help in buying a gift for me. He was funny when he told me that he complained to the cashier why he was being charged more than what’s in the price tag. They patiently explained to him that he has to pay city taxes which he understood and accepted. He paid in cash (can’t remember his pin) and the Tap option was hard to do. Another funny thing about cash: he has them in all cash bills in his wallet (from $100 down to $5) and he also have a thin bundle of $5 bills wrapped in a rubber band (he wants to have cash at the back of his pants just in case someone robs him of his wallet).

Thank you, Fred, for making me smile. You’re right that we don’t post many funny stories. Yes, there is a degree of sadness to the stories but we must find the humor in our experience.

Our neighborhood has a little “party in the park” twice a year, April and November. Last time we went, DH complained about everything, mostly about the band being too loud, and didn’t want to stay. A month or so later, every single time we walked by the park (which was quite often) DH said “next time, I’m not gonna be such an a**hole and I’m gonna stay and enjoy it. When is the next one?” I responded 4 months, then 3 months, then 2 months, etc. as November approached. So party is happening one evening and we ride by on our bikes while they’re getting everything set up. I said “do you want to come back down with our chairs later?” and he said “ I don’t want to go to that!”

we are still looking for a Christmas present my DH bought for me. I saw the receipt so I know he bought it. He says it was wrapped under the tree and someone else took it!😄

Oh, how things disappear! And it’s always because someone took them! I have to laugh because my DH is always sure someone stole his shaving cream. And one night he was pretty sure there was a horse in the house. My daughter asked him what color is was and he said he didn’t know because he could only look at the mesmerizing eyes of the horse. Gotta laugh!!

What a great story. We all have to laugh at some things or we are gonna cry. Wishing everyone here dealing with this terrible disease, to try to find some laughter in the new year.

Ha ha very funny and I thought just don’t put on weight between now and next Christmas and you may find yourself wearing a new pair of jeans. Thanks for the laugh.

My wife is in MC and can't use a computer but "she" got a nice little table saw for Christmas. I told her thank you that is just what I wanted.
