Hello! I am new to this message board and would love to get involved with this community.
I am a 52 year old female diagnosed with sleep apnea and Persistent limb movement disorder at age 42. I self-diagnosed REM sleep behavior disorder from incidents in the past 20 years where I have injured myself by kicking nightstand, slamming my arm into nightstand water glass so hard that I fell out
of bed, etc.
My grandfather had Alzheimer's at about 72 and my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 80. After distressing cognitive decline, I sought a neurology consult.
I have had neuropsych testing and an MRI with a referral to cognitive rehab sessions.
I am steadily losing functioning ability to drive, pay bills, perform my job, cook anything, organize anything, etc. I am afraid of becoming too incapacitated by my cognitive decline before I manage to get an accurate diagnosis because I live alone, am not married and have no one to help me. Any advice on fast diagnosis route?
