Paperwork

I finally got the paperwork done for durable POA and Guardianship over my 45yo EOA boyfriend. I have been taking care of him for the last year and a half so why not. His one side of the family you know the ones who say "if you need anything I'll be there for you or let me know" yeah they are gonna be upset. I had my parents be the witnesses but to make sure "the other side" couldn't think it was three against one I had an Uncle be present as well. He agreed with me signing the papers and having it done.

We also had an update with his PCP this week and we have a prescription for Ensure. He does like it now just need to get it covered on his insurance. I told the pcp we were signing the papers and he said it was good and time. I also asked him as his pcp that when the day comes to help me make the decision of it's time for my LO to be at peace. He also agreed. This is freaking hard y'all!!!! But i still appreciate the small glimpses and clarity i see of him on the daily basis.

Thanks for listening.

We are all on this together 💜

You're amazing, don't ever forget that!

If your BF can still vocalize rationally what his preferences are for end-of-life care, include him in those conversations as much as possible, whenever possible. This will help make you feel confident that you are honoring his wishes to the best of your ability. The Association has great information on how to help guide you in these difficult conversations as well, so look into it or call the helpline!

Are you still working outside the home? Who watches him when you are at work? I'm surprised the court approved guardianship if he's left alone part of the day. I wish you the best ,he is fortunate to have you.
