Early Onset of Dementia

My name is Bonnie and I live near Dillsburg, Pa. I am 57 and was just diagnosed with early onset of Alzheimer’s. I am trying to get treated with Leqembi. I am on a wait list… they said maybe July. I was just reaching out to learn or hear about anything that is helpful for this disease. The more I know, the better prepared I can be.

Hi Bonnie, my husband is 58 and was diagnosed in August, 2024. Sending you my best and heartfelt wishes that you can get the treatment sooner. We are looking into Leqembi vs. Kisunla here but there are insurance obstacles. Hard when you have commercial insurance where we live outside of DC.

    Sending Hugs

Just wondering are you aware of your deficits, as I am. I feel cheated, so many things I wanted to accomplish and now I am struggling day to day.

Hello, not sure what Insurance you have but several insurance companies offer specific support for people who have been diagnosed.

You should have your neurologist order a PET SCAN. This test will offer more info than a MRI. Also, you may need to stop driving.

I'm 58, was diagnosed over summer. I'm aware of my deficits. I sometimes can't think of the right word. I get lost coming home from a suburb across town or in the dark. I have to write everything down because I cannot remember things I used to be able to.

I am 53 and just diagnosed a little over a week ago. I am aware of my deficits, but thought they were from my major depressive order. I finally made a list of all of my quirky symptoms, and thankfully my wonderful NP recognized the signs and sent me for a workup. I'm waiting on a PET scan. I have decided if I'm taking an infusion at all it will probably be leqimbe. It has a slightly lower chance of ARIA, especially since I have two copies of APOEe4.
