Nighttime Delusions and Refusing to Go to Bed
I am not only becoming exhausted and burnt out, but I am running out of effective ways to respond. Trying to redirect him has not helped in his nighttime delusions, nor his times of anger and aggression. Help any ideas or solutions ? I am ashamed to say my patience and compassion is not what it should be right now.

When my LO started getting extremely agitated at night and tossing everything out of the room and pulling out the bed etc, the doctor recommended a few days of an additional medication (anti-depressent that also helps sleep) in the evening. It was meant to serve as a reset. And it worked. Talk to the doctor,
Also, has he been tested for a UTI? Sometimes changes of temper can be a sign of a UTI.
Unfortunately, evening agitation is not unusual.

We are dealing with delusions and agitation with my 87 yo mom. Sometimes at night but not always. Seems to be as a result of infidelity delusion and also she has mentioned people taking or bringing things into and out of house.
Dad is primary caregiver but I have been visiting for prolonged periods to offer support and help to try to calm her during agitation episodes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We are waiting for new medication to take effect, recently prescribed Seroquel.
I don’t really have any answers or suggestions as I also try to redirect (try and try) but please know you are not alone. This is very difficult I just keep reminding myself that this is not my mom, it’s the disease.
Take good care
