I am so grateful to this group for having given me advice and directed me to resources to help get my parent to a safe place where she is well cared for and seemingly content. This is a small miracle to me seeing as this journey started out with her living on her own states away from family, very isolated, in denial or unaware or her condition, and under the influence of a boyfriend who was also in denial of her condition and uncommunicative with family. I really feel like it's a miracle she escaped serious harm during her early stages of dementia.

I'm so grateful to all who advised me to go and fly out to bring ber back with me. This was what set everything in motion to get her to memory care 5 months later. And thank you to all who helped me get through those months and jump through all the hoops (lawyers, drs etc) to be able to place her in memory care. And thank you for all the advise which helped me a facility that will best serve her needs and give her the highest quality of life

. I couldn't be happier with the memory care we selected. I am truly astounded with how well she is adapting within 10 days. In some ways I see her happier and more relaxed engaged socially and active than I've seen her in years. This an incredible blessing. If I hadn't read so many posts and talked with so many people in memory care in my community, I'm sure my decisions would have been different and wouldn't have led to such positive outcomes.

Aw Merla - I'm glad that so much has worked out for you and LO.

There are folks on this forum that contribute so very much of their time and advice. It means a lot to me, too.

With so much frustration to deal with, to hear of your positive outcome means a lot. Thanks for posting.

in the case of my mom, all your advice has been so helpful. I feel like it's a small miracle that she hasn't experienced serious harm during her the past couple of years and I was able to help get her to a safe place. I'm so grateful to this forum as it has given me so much knowledge I would have never had as this is my first close experience with dementia.

@Merla i totally agree and get it. I remember when you were going through all of it and thinking “god it’s an awful lot!” And of course the second guessing.

I was terrified to move my mom out of state and into assisted living then memory care.

I would never have made the decisions I made - to get a diagnosis, to get legal stuff in order, to start preparing early - if it weren’t for this board. I am enormously grateful too. I’m glad you found that support here too.
