Sold my DO car

well… I finally figured out how to stop my DO from driving, I sold our other car. He always drove the jeep and now only “my” car is left. I told him I’m the primary driver so he can’t drive. So far it’s worked! Desperate times call for desperate measures, I feel so much safer. He tells me I don’t trust his driving anymore! On a good note he wanted to know how much we paid for the new car, we’ve had it for 10 years, whatever works, love and light all 😍

    Good for you!

I did the same when my DH's driving started to really scare me. Sometimes, he'd stop in the middle of the street; I think he was wondering which way to turn! I was sure someone was going to hit us from behind! The final straw was when he forgot to turn off the engine; he left the car running in our closed garage for probably a few hours. I sold the car the next day—-and never regretted it.

Stopping my husband from driving has been very difficult. We have 3 vehicles so 6 sets of keys. He was leaving the house at night and going to a local bar in a very busy area to watch live music and drink. He got $175 in unpaid parking tickets bec he doesn’t know how to use a parking meter. I went through a period of hiding keys but eventually convinced him that he had lost the keys to one vehicle and then I removed the key fob battery on his truck keys. I leave it out so he can see it so sometimes he tells me he’s going to the bar and I just say Okay have a good time knowing that he will be back in 15 minutes bec he can’t open the door. He will sometimes repeat this 3 times in a row. As time has gone by his little sports car has gotten a dead battery and the truck is not far behind. He doesn’t know how to call AAA or charge the battery so I think I’m good. He would be very upset if I sold his vehicles so that’s on hold for now.

Problem now is that he knows I have keys to my car and he gets very agitated when I won’t give them to him. I can’t get rid of my car it’s our only working vehicle. I hide my keys each night before I go to bed.

I’m hoping he eventually loses interest all together.
