Orange County Memory Care

Is anyone currently paying for memory care in Orange County, CA?
We are not at the stage where it’s needed yet, but I would like some idea of actual cost. I do t tend to believe the accuracy those sites that give averages for different areas. Most websites don’t post cost. They want information from you first. Atria in Newport Beach lists their MC cost as $12,600. If the building location is where I think it is, part of that is for the view. That’s fine if you have the $$$, but unnecessary in this case.

I think they normally want to do an assessment of the client first to determine the level of care needed. In Portland OR the mean cost seems to be $8500 per month.

10K for a semi private room and not at the highest level of care is what I paid for my grandmother in the greater Seattle area around 3-4 years ago.

I recommend you become familiar with California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (canhr.org). They have info and fact sheets on a wide variety of topics regarding all sorts of long-term care issues, including Medi-Cal (Medicaid). I haven't been active in this area in a while, but they used to publish reviews of the various facilities (ombuds complaints, civil fines, etc.) It's great that you're being proactive and looking at this issue.
