Not understanding

I do not understand what to think. Last summer DW had hallucinations, didn’t know me or our house, had sundowners real bad. She did know her kids and grand children We started her on mementine and donepezal along with quietinine.

Now she is back to normal with some changes to her personality and lost many memories from the past. Her short term memory is better. She is also hypersexual.

I feel very blessed, overall, with her current state. I worry every day when this grace period will end. The difficult thing is that we can’t talk about our past together because she Doesn’t remember and gets very frustrated that no one told her these things, so I just don’t talk about anything.

We have had many test and scans. The only thing that shows up is small vein ischemia. They tell me that it is normal for her age. They do say that all signs point toward something me kind of dementia.
I hope she keeps on this path for some time so we can enjoy every moment, bit I know these meds are not a cure.

Thanks for listening

Hi orth - we never can tell one day to the next.

Sorry she doesn't remember your past together. I know that hurts. ((hugs))

glad the medications may be helping. Sorry her long term memory isn’t good. Many times there are plateaus between declines. Enjoy every moment. 💜
