Good hospital bed mattress for mom - foam versus innerspring?

Hello,
The hospital bed mattress that my mom had for years needs to be replaced. I had made a hole in it to help with pee and it turned out to be a bad do-it-yourself-hack and the inner coils rusted when moisture got in where I cut the bed. Lesson learned, never puncture a hospital bed.
I'm now debating whether to get another innerspring mattress or a foam one. But before I spend $300+ on this I wanted to get someone's take on thi. Someone who knows or has been in this situation. Mom is completely bed-bound and doesn't have any type of pressure ulcers as I make sure to turn her thoughout the day.
Come to think of it, when she was hospitalized, she got a bad ulcer near her sacrum and I think it was either the hospital mattress she was in didn't provide support, think it was an air-mattress or foam one. It was super comfortable but not sure if all that comfort actually worked against my mom. Or when she was in the hospital it was that she wasn't turned properly so she got the sacrum ulcer. I don't know. I'm not really a fan of foam mattresses because of the smell.
I'm thinking of buying another innerspring mattress as the one we had lasted for 7 years but it was never very comfortable. It did provide support though and I would put cushions and padding on it to make it more comfortable for my mom. This worked when she was very heavy.
But now that my mom weighs much less and is completely bed-bound, not sure if it's time to transition to foam mattress. Some reviews on Amazon on these are really bad from no support to bad chemical smells and stuck with $400 purchases once the return period was over.
Advice appreciated.
Thank you
elhijo

Check with your mom's insurance. If her doctor orders a hospital bed as medically necessary equipment, Medicare and supplemental insurance may pay for it. You would then get it delivered through a DME provider. When my mom's hospital bed mattress developed a defect, the company replaced it. I wouldn't recommend ordering this type of equipment through Amazon.
