Just a general comment. I've been noticing a number of folks here under 65 "retiring" due to dementia.

Please if you have long term and or short term disability insurance [ sometimes through your state] jump on using that before letting job performance lead to firing - where income and benefits could cease.

It's normal and human for folks to want to maintain their lives a long as possible but not grabbing benefit options when a fatal progressive disease enters your life is a financial , emotional and physical wrecking ball. Getting a disability lawyer at this stage is very helpful- they can and should make all the contact with HR so that nothing is said that could slow things down .

If one's employer offers LTD grab it during the next open offer if you still qualify and let your family know it's a good thing for them to consider having. Not just for dementia but car accidents etc.

I wish we could outrun the disease, but we can't. Fight to save your benefits.
