Docs are suggesting electroconvulsive therapy. I’m old school and I don’t hear any news flashes. Concerned but cautious about going to Oregon for treatment.

you can search for ECT on this site at the top. You could also call the Alzheimer’s toll free number. I would research the benefits cs the side effects. please keep the forum posted. I found this:

+4Memory loss is a common side effect of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), but it's usually temporary. Most people experience short-term memory loss and confusion after ECT, which improves within a few months. However, some people experience long-term memory loss.

When I had ECT, I never got full memory back. I lost memory from the 1st day till the last day of treatment. I was told I was very confused and when completed, I was still depressed.

I have seen ECT provide amazing outcomes and disappointing ones. Usually it's only considered as a last resort when medications have not been successful and life is intolerable. In those cases, it can be amazing. It can still be disappointing as well, but often worth trying.
