Made last minute arrangements to watch my grandkids. DH was napping when they arrived and when he woke up, came downstairs, he was coughing a lot! Convinced him to go back upstairs so as not to get the kids sick. It was an issue all afternoon- and I understand that but after they left he insisted on staying with me as I cooked dinner etc. - again I get it, but because of my health issues I cannot take certain cold/ flu/ Covid medications and of course it doesn’t resonate with him ! Just frustrated and praying I don’t get sick.

How frustrating! I hope he just had allergies or something not contagious!

    That's a lot for you.
I am immunocompromised and have young kids that bring germs home from school. For future bouts, there are some things you can do to minimize transmission in your home. We have air filters in all the rooms where we hang out. There are varying sizes and prices sold. Mine are about the size of a case of soda. They run on auto mode most of the time (they automatically detect when there are lots of people breathing C02 in the room, or when I am using the stove etc) but when one of the kids is sick I turn them all up on high and it really has been effective. If we are sitting in the same room I position the sick person near the air filter (which is continually sucking air in) and distance myself so their air is being sucked into the filter and the viruses filtered out. When they are crowding around me in the kitchen where I don't have an air filter I wear a n95 mask. When weather allows I crack windows and doors for ventilation, this helps move the viruses away instead of hanging in the air. These small things have been very effective for me and I rarely catch their illnesses. When they are sick I mask when interacting closely with them putting them to bed etc. You can now buy over the counter tests that will test for both inluenza and covid in the same test. Then you know for sure if it's worth a call to the doctor. Also, if you can't take things like Tamiflu or Paxlovid but your husband can, don't hesitate to ask his doc about that if he is positive for either illness. The meds would make him less contagious. I am fortunately able to take paxlovid and tamiflu, and if I am so much as exposed my doc will send the prescription in so I have it if I need it. Tamiflu in particular can be taken as a precaution if exposed even without symptoms.

Great advice! Thank you for next time. Managed to convince DH or so I thought to stay in his room, but after 9 conversations today to get him back upstairs I’m exhausted and oh ,now I have a sore throat, sneezing 😡! Go figure!
