This is my mother's MRI report. Could this be the cause of memory loss and difficulty speaking?Multiplanar multisequence MRI of the brain with I/V contrast was performed.

Extra axial spaces: A well-defined avidly enhancing extra axial mass showing isointense signals to gray matter on T1/T2 measuring 3.5 x 3 x 3 cm (AP x Tr x CC), seen in right posterior fossa causing compression of underlying cerebellar hemisphere with mild parenchymal edema and mild effacement of fourth ventricle, it is in close contact with the right tentorium cerebelli causing its elevation. Probable involvement of the right transverse sinus at its junction with sigmoid sinus.

Focal parenchymal signal abnormality: Normal gray and white matter in supra and infratentorial

compartments.

Intracranial hemorrhage: None.

Infarct: No recent or remote infarct.

Special regions: Sellar, supra / parasellar, pineal regions, CP angles and craniocervical junction are normal.

Ventricular system: No hydrocephalus or mass.

Major vascular flow voids: Normal.

Postcontrast enhancement: No abnormal brain parenchymal or meningeal enhancement seen.

Dural venous sinuses: Patent.

Orbits: Visualized orbits are grossly normal.

Paranasal sinuses: No significant rhinosinusitis.

Otomastoids: No significant otomastoiditis.

This report is from November? What have her doctors recommended to be done about this mass? It is displacing some structues in the brain.

i am a nurse, not a doctor, but this certainly sounds as if it needs attention. You left out the "impression" section of the report so this isn't complete information. I would definitely reach out to the provider who ordered the MRI and discuss next steps. Bring your question about how her symptoms may relate to these findings. I hope you get helpful answers.
