Brussel Sprouts

I have been looking forward and craving brussel sprouts for a few days. It's hard for me to cook in the kitchen as my bf (45yo EOA) likes to be in there with me. I try to ask him to be out of the kitchen while I'm cooking as I don't want him to get hurt. Well, I cut up some baked chicken from Costco and was seasoning my brussel sprouts. Bf LOVES to wipe off the counter and dry the kitchen sink. I was washing the dishes in the sink and he came over and wanted to dry the sink. I asked him to hold on a moment. He went to reach and along with his reach he knocked the brussel sprouts into the sink. I may have gotten mad and upset and scolded him. Then I started crying. Now I feel bad. So chicken and rice it is for dinner.

No use in crying over spilled brussel sprouts.... right?

We are all in this together 💜

Funny you should post this today. Yesterday, as I was preparing dinner DH asked for a snack. I sat him down with some chips and guacamole and he asked if there was any other dip. I gave him the container of hummus. I usually serve him a small portion but I was in a hurry. Once dinner was cooking I went in for some of the hummus and found he had combined it with the guacamole. THE WHOLE CONTAINER! I was terribly upset but bit my tongue and thought "oh well". It's such a minor thing but to exhausted, sleep deprived me, it was huge! I'm so proud of myself for not saying anything upsetting to him.

OH NO! Sometimes a food to look forward to is what keeps us sane. I hope for both of you the food you crave in the near future—not mixed with either dishwater OR other foods!

So sorry about your brussel sprouts. Know that it's not the worst thing that can happen. I went through a phase in which DH criticized and literally chastised me for anything I did, in the kitchen or otherwise, "You're using everything up (toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, paper towel, utensils [fill in the missing blank])…there's nothing left…there's no more pots/pans…you're doing it all wrong…you're gonna break the stove/coffee pot/dishwasher…" Once, I got so frustrated that I almost threw a pot of hot soup at him. Those were really unbearable days. In spite of knowing it's the disease and not him, the constant badgering was simply too much for me to handle. In looking back, I still don't know how I survived through it all, not to mention the violent episodes when I had to call 911. It's an excruciatingly painful road we're on. Hugs to you.

Sorry about those brussel sprouts! Sometimes it’s the small, relatively unimportant things that seem to get to me. Lately I’ve been making only a travel mug full of coffee instead of a pot because DH wants to get out of the house right after breakfast. So the coffee maker was dripping directly into the travel mug and he decided to pull it out and put the lid on it while I tried to explain not to do that. Needless to say, coffee was dripping everywhere. He then says, “boy you really made a mess!”
