DW has been taking buproprion for many years for anxiety/depression. She has been in MC for three weeks now. She seems to be having some trouble adjusting, and sometimes she's very down. The facility's psychiatrist plans to wean her off the buproprion and start Seroquel. Does this sound like a good idea? (I realize I haven't provided much background.)

I don't know anything about buproprion . My DW was prescribed citalopram (SSRI) a couple of months ago to help with some agitation related behaviors. After 6 weeks it was having no effect and symptoms were getting worse. PCP recently added 25mg seroquel daily. Still no noticeable improvement but we are told it can take weeks or months to see results and 25mg feels like a really small dose.

From my experience trying to improve DW quality of life with medication, it can be a long road finding the right medications and dosage to address these conditions and in the meantime, we are expected to just deal with it.

I know a lot of people have indicated some level of success with seroquel so it sounds like that was a good choice to try.
