Hello. It has come time to move mom into MC. She has visited quite a few times and enjoys it when we're there. She comments on how lovely and clean it is. As soon as we get in the car to leave I ask "How about living there mom?" Her response is "Live where?"

So, my question is…do I tell her at all that we are moving her or do we just move her in and say this is your new apartment now and that be it? I feel telling her ahead of time will just upset her. At least this way she is already there. I'm afraid she won't get in the car if we tell her where we're going.

Appreciate any advise.

Just move her. Take her for lunch at the dining room and finish setting up her room. The staff have been through this before, so they will help you out, but don't tell her ahead of time. After the fact, you can tell her that she chose to move there, or you can tell her that the plumbing went out and she'll need to stay there "for a while" until the plumbing gets fixed. Launder and repeat. Whatever story works is the one you should stick with.
