There are different medications that can be prescribed. I would talk with his doctor. Some medications for anxiety, hallucinations or other problems may also help with sleep. So make sure to explain all your concerns. Seroquel is one I have seen mentioned often.

Ask the doctor for mitrazipine. It’s an anti-depressant and sleep aid. It worked great for my mom in terms of sleeping. She stopped walking the halls of the AL at night.

It's tough to recommend specific medicines without knowing your dad's full situation. That is why seeing a doctor is the best option; they can evaluate everything, including his age, overall health, other medications he's taking, and the specific aspects of his sleep that are affected.

Sometimes lifestyle changes can make a big difference, and natural remedies like lemon balm or valerian tea might help, but a doctor can determine the safest and most effective options for him.

Its a basic question, but I have to ask. Are you making certain he's not having any caffeine of any kind after 6:00 pm? Sometimes people don't realize what's in what they are drinking / eating.

Also, as suggested, discuss it with the neurologist. Different types of melatonin work differently. He possibly needs one that is a long lasting one. But its always best to discuss this with the physicians.
