My dad has been diagnosed with both Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body dementia. One problem we are running into is that he always has the hiccups. It has been going on for almost 8 months. Medications do not work. Neurologists said not real tested to disease and primary says it does. In the meantime nobody is looking into the reason for this. It cause his stomach and chest to hurt and he sometimes vomits and also stops breathing. He even has them while sleeping. Has anyone else run into this problem? Suggestions?

My DH had hiccups for 3 mos after brain surgery. It is exhausting. Work with the PCP to evaluate current medications, poss brain lesion and/or epilepsy. Look into Brain Hiccups. I hope he finds relief, 8 months is a very long time.
