Establishing level of capacity of judgement

Anyone have experience evaluating capacity of judgment? I am being referred to Forensic Psychiatry at a cost of $5,000 to $10,000. Gotta be a better way.

Interesting term. No idea what the goal is. Determining the judgement of someone with dementia seems like a waste of time. The patients capacity is relentlessly declining. Any result, if actually valid, would be only accurate for a short period of time. I would be very suspicious of the referral.

I’m not sure what you’re working on, but when I needed to move my DW off of our family trust to give me full control, our regular neurologist met with us and provided a letter making official that my DW was no longer capable of making financial decisions. 10 minute, regular visit covered by Medicare.

Would seem like a neurologist would be the one to do that.
