I had very bad anxiety. My counselor advised deep breathing as a stress relief. It worked and is still working.

I have had Anxiety pretty much all my life but nothing like when I was diagnosed, (5 mos. Ago) it was just awful. My Neurologist didnt want me to take clonopin anymore so he prescribed Proponalol which was of no help. At the same time, my Primary wanted me off the Cymbalta and on a different medication which had less cognitive effects. I am being weaned off the Cymbalta and Lexapro is slowly being added- my Anxiety is less for sure.

My mom was prescribed a low dose of Citalopram, and it worked well for her anxiety. Side effects were mild and went away after a week or two. It is not like that for everyone, but you can talk to your doctor and maybe give it a try.

Just keep in mind that it doesn't work instantly. It takes a week or two to see the effect on anxiety.

Remember to never give up if one medication for anxiety isn't working for you. Your neurologist has numerous medications that can work for you - its just determining which one will work best for you.

So I have a question. I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about three years ago. I have been reading about the anxiety and the different solutions people have shared.... I thought popped into my pretty little head (😆) and I thought would ask it to get peoples opinions.... So... Where do you think this anxiety comes from... ??Caused by...?? Do you all think it is a "side effect" of having Alzheimer's?? Is is a side effect of Alzheimer's drugs we take?? I am just a very curious type person, always asking why... I must have been a seriously annoying child 😆. Maybe if we could figure out the source it might help in letting it go .... Any thoughts??
