My mom has dementia and its been hard lately because I can't fix it. Like everyone else no one wants to see their loved one going through anything like this. How do you manage with everything you want to do anything for them but in reality, you can't. It can be overwhelming, stressful and of course depressing because I would like to make her golden years to be comfortable. Any advice?

welcome. So sorry about your Mom. It’s a heartbreaking disease. We understand how you feel. The sadness, depression is grief. Grief for what we have lost and what might have been. Some call it anticipatory grief. I just read your post from May. Sorry you didn’t get any replies. If you are sad and depressed consider counseling by someone familiar with dementia. My husband’s Geriatric Psychiatrist offered to counsel me. Read the book “The 36 Hour Day” which helped me after my husband’s diagnosis. Learn all you can about the disease and caregiving. It will help you help her. Google dementia caregiving videos. Tam Cummings and Teepa Snow have good ones. Your Mom’s safety and care is the most important thing. Keep telling her you love her and try to live in the moment. She’s lucky to have you. Come here often for info and support. Hugs. 💜
