Thank you for the info, much appreciated. We live in a rural area. I've also looked at A Place for Mom, and same as Oasis, their facilities are not close to home. I'm guessing the facilities pay a fee for their service and the local available facilities have chosen not to participate in their services? We are working on plan B.

Your DH sounds on a par with mine he has always been a nice easy person, Married for 54 years and now he is slipping before my very eyes. He was an architectural draftsman was one of the first in Australia to be introduced and trained in AutoCad in Melbourne ran our own business in Cairns far North Queensland, we sailed the east coast he was a pilot and we had our own single engine aircraft we flew with our two little children through outback Aus. He gave me such an exciting life it’s still hard to believe that this has happened. It’s a cruel despicable indiscriminate disease but now he needs all our love and understanding for something he has no control over.

As far as i am concerned this is really the only place to kind out anything. There are so many people here with such a huge variety of experiences with their LO. You can ask anything and any number of people will help with answers. I needed to know "is this sundowning?" because my DH's didn't look like exactly textbook. The answer: most don't. Do all the various physical and behavioral theaplies work as the professionals say or is it just an exercize to make the caretaker feel like they are doing something? (Probably yes to the latter), do the slowdown meds work? (who really knows). And yes, the neurologist is fairly well done with you once you've exhausted the meds they have to give. I am sure there is a lot of hopelessness for the docs that they would rather not see.

As to Memory Care facilities: I am in the process of touring the local places and will then go ahead a put DH's name on the wait list. They are all happy to give you a tour and spend time with you face to face. This may not be feasible for those in remote towns, but making an appointment for a tour has been remarably easy for me.
