Hello
I am a caregiver to my father. He has been diagnosed with severe alzheimer. He is 73 and he is slipping away and being lost to this disease. Each day is a blessing but so hard to see him decline. I am holding off as long as I am able to care for him at home. I need some advice on what activities or what other caregivers do to keep their lived ones engaged?

It is important to remember that PWD loss the ability to self start, so you have to introduce an activity and work with him a while. Activities can be simplified versions of what he used to do and/or be activities in which he is helping ( or thinks he is helping) you or someone else. A really good source for this is a 15 minute YouTube video by Teepa Snow titled "Meaningful Activities and Dementia."
