risperidone

My HWD is currently taking Donepezil and Sertraline. He has been so agitated and verbally abusive lately that his PCP has written a prescription for risperidone 5 mg. The listed side effects are pretty scary, but maybe at this low dosage they are not a big risk. I was wondering if anyone has experience with it that they could share.

Hi Bailey's Mom. My DH has been on risperidone 5 mg. for several months. It has helped with agitation and there have been no side effects. I hope this helps you.

My husband has been on risperidone 5 mg and depakote for aggression and agitation. They have worked wonders with no side effects. 5 mg is a high dose and usually the doctors start at a much lower dose.

Thanks for your replies…very helpful and encouraging. I sure hope it works…his constant anger is exhausting and becoming sooo irritating!
