MCI diagnosis

Hello. I was diagnosed with MCI a few months ago. I'm mid 50's and have shown symptoms for the past year which I initially wrote off as normal aging. My PET scan showed structures in my brain that are interfering with my short term memory. A couple of weeks ago I had a lumbar injection of medication. It's been a long road the past few months and I'm hoping things improve or at least stay stable. I have many more appointments already scheduled at the memory clinic which is difficult because I'm still trying to work full time.

Hi Colin. I was diagnosed about a month ago and am having difficulty coming to terms with it. This is a diagnosis I have dreaded for a long time. I went to care access about four 4 months ago, which does blood tests for different things, one of which is tau build up. I had a positive result. I then went to a neurologist for further testing and he did blood tests, an mri and a pet scan. The pet scan showed amyloid plaque build up. He was a very un-caring doctor and only spent about 5 minutes with me giving me results and then recommended my taking donentemab and gave me some literature and said to come back in a month. I cancelled my appointment and decided to gather info myself which I am doing.

I have found a website called bright focus foundation which funds alzheimers research and does monthly interviews on alzheimrers studies and has experts who answers questions. It has all past sessions there. Knowledge is key to moving forward. Good luck in your journey.

Hi! Welcome to the group. The best resource I can recommend is lequmbi.com. There's not only great info about treatment, but about ALZ in general

The best unbiased website I've found with information about Alzheimer's and the treatment options is run by the Alzheimer's Association. You may be familiar with them, they are the sponsor of AlzConnected (i.e. this bulletin board).

Below is a link to their page with information about navigating treatment options for AD, including the new anti-amyloid medications (i.e. Kisunla & Leqembi).
