A study, in Wales, found that the zoster vaccine reduced the probability of a new dementia diagnosis by approximately one-fifth over a seven-year follow-up period.

The Zoster vaccine in the United States is no longer available, and has been replaced by the two dose Shingrix vaccine. I hope someone does a study with Shingrx to see if the results are similar. While we await new studies, I am glad my doctor kept urging me to get vaccinated. I had the Zoster years ago when it was available here and the Shingrix after it was available. Husband only got vaccinated after developing dementia.

Not sure what anyone will or could do with this information. I thought it interesting enough to pass along.
