Newly Diagnosed, starting Leqembi

I was just diagnosed with MCI AD at the age of 59. My mother (81) has AD although she does not have a definitive diagnosis since she lies to her doctors and cancels doctor appts. Because of her, I soke with my Neurologist who I see for a Benign Essential tremor (since age 16) and mentioned my mom. So we did the blood test which came back E4E4. So we proceeded to the Amyloid PET scan which was positive for AD. I will be starting Leqembi in the next few weeks. I am interested in an supplements others are taking. Also has anyone purchased an IV hoodie/fleece?

Thanks for listening!

I’m supposed to be starting on leqembi soon, but my insurance won’t cover it. I hear there is an assistance program, but haven’t heard back from them since early October. I don’t know what to do next.

    Hi Doriainco,

I just had my first Leqembi infusion I think two days ago. I was filled with terrible anxiety prior to going. However all my fears were unwarranted. The place was warm and comfortable. You are seated in like a recliner type chair. The staff were friendly, caring, and very accommodating to any needs I might have had during the process . The whole thing took just about an hour. When they removed the "IV" a bandaide was applied and all was good. I worn just jeans and a T-shirt but a blanket was available at the place if I had gotten cold. You probably wouldn't need to spend any extra expense on any type of specialized hoodie. Good luck with your first infusion and your continued journey. Write us all back and let us know how it went for you. Will keep you in my thoughts. GE

Take a look at this. My doctor had me sign all the forms for the assistance program when they submitted everything.

Also, find out why it was denied. There is always an appeal process.
