Quick question
My DW is in late stage 5. The past month or so she has begun to shadow me wherever I go in the house. I tried daycare last couple of weeks which was a disaster. After about 2 hours there she began to cry uncontrollably saying that I left her there and wasn’t coming back. Today DW,s aunt came over to watch her while I got some respite. I was gone for about 3 hours and when I walked in she was crying again wanting to know why I left her.
My question is does this shadowing go away as her disease progresses.

It may or may not..sorry. This behavior may be a result of anxiety which can usually be successfully medicated.

my guess is that in some cases, the shadowing may disappear. I have endured it with DW for eight years with no sign at all of diminishing. For me, it's the main reason why I want to get her into memory care, and the main reason preventing such. I anticipate she would have a complete meltdown. My daughter-in-law used to take her to lunch and shopping once a month and she always kept asking where I was and what I was doing. Severe separation anxiety.

I'm another that it has not diminished. We are on our 2nd sitter and hoping she will have some success bonding with him. At the dentist this week and they had to bring him back into the room to see me. He no longer knows who I am, only that I am his person.

My DW shadowing comes and goes. On her bad days she could care less about being around me. On her good days she is shadowing me. Her bad days are rough all around, so I'm happy to have the shadowing.

Kind of same as Scooterr. She would rather be with me than anyone else but if the stars are aligned we can get her to be ok with someone she knows for a bit. Sometimes she’ll just sleep. Might be her mechanism for dealing with it. Another thing that happens sometimes if you get her to be with someone for a little while you kind of have to work your way back into her good graces. It’s like walking a tightrope.
