Lots of ‘Pams’
Looking for some feedback on lorazepam. Hospice is suggesting (for nighttime when it gets very difficult) getting off of temazepam, increasing serequol and start using lorazepam as needed. Anyone been through a similar path? She sleeps well on temazepam it’s just getting there that’s the challenge.

you can search for lorazepam and read old posts. Also search for the brand name. The search thingy is at the top of the page.

Lorezepam seems to be prescribed more often than the other "pams". It might be related to how it is metabolized and eliminated from the body. Seroquel as the main drug with another as needed is mentioned fairly often here, especially when someone is on hospice.

Good suggestion on searching old posts. Thanks!

Temazepam has a shorter half-life, meaning it clears the system more quickly. Lorazepam is most often used in Hospice and the onset of action is faster than temazepam.

I think increasing the seroquel will help. The lorazepam will help until the ideal dose of seroquel is found for your DW.

Before using LORazepam, tell your doctor if you also use QUEtiapine. This combination may cause excessive sedation, confusion, dizziness, or lack of coordination. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment if you take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
