Freezing Credit with Experian

Does anyone have a guide or experience with freezing credit for Spouse with AD with Experian? I have checked their site, called their number, but can't find specific instructions for protected consumers. Number is automated, chat doesn't have any information for incapacitation. AI generated answer says to follow Experian's instructions, but I can find any. Argh! Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I tried that. It will only allow me to freeze my own. When I tried to do it for/as my husband, they wanted a selfie and to take a pic of his DL. I will write to them.

you may need a DPOA to do that. You may need to send them a copy.

Thanks, Diane. I have all the necessary documents. I am going to priority mail tomorrow. Just wish there was a more instant and less complex way to do this.

I personally froze mine, my mom's, and my DH's at all 3 credit bureaus, online, in spring, 2024. All they asked for was each person's SSN.

Please be sure you are on the correct site. Here is Experian's. Scroll down midway to the link to "Freeze" your credit. You must sign up for a FREE account, but after doing so, follow the prompts and you are good to go. Go to the other 2 sites to rinse and repeat.

Freezing credit is a big deal - don't do it for another unless you have the proper current documents.

Protocols may have changed since then, but I froze my dh's credit 3-4 years ago. Last month I got two letters to him denying "the applicant" their EBay credit card due to lack of a credit report. I'm hoping to get my dad to freeze his as well.
