Communication

First post, so forgive me for any missteps. My DW (61) was diagnosed with Alzheimers earlier this year, but symptoms have been present for about 3 years. Our major issue seems to be communication......it always seems to be confrontational. She feels I do not have any patience (somewhat true) and I feel she constantly criticizes, insults and bitches at me. She is currently taking Quetiapine for anger issues which has helped somewhat. I have made direct requests for her to curtail this behavior with no success. She feels I always change her requests or desires. Any suggestions on how to address this?

I learned on this site that with Alzheimer’s, reasoning is broken. Arguing is pointless and makes matters worse. Reading The 36 Hour Day helped tremendously in understanding the disease and how to handle communication. There are online videos that are also helpful. Talk to your wife’s neurologist about medication.
