My dad is going to start the leqembi treatment soon. Will these fusion treatments affect his immune system? Any information is greatly appreciative. 😀

I would speak to his Neurologist about that. I found this online that may help you communicate with the doctor. You can also search this forum for Lequembi posts and read all the posts. The search thingy is at the top of the page.

Yes, Leqembi (lecanemab-irmb) infusions significantly affect the immune system. The drug itself is an antibody that works by using the body's immune system to clear amyloid beta protein from the brain. This activation of the immune system also leads to specific side effects and reactions. How Leqembi Interacts with the Immune System

    • Mechanism of Action: Leqembi is a monoclonal antibody that binds to soluble amyloid-beta protofibrils and marks them for removal by the immune system's microglia (immune cells in the brain). This process is intended to slow the progression of early Alzheimer's disease.
    • Contraindication with Immunosuppressants: Because Leqembi works by activating the immune system, patients taking drugs that suppress the immune system are generally excluded from treatment.

My DH has had three infusions…so far he’s doing well. My understanding is that while it can’t replace lost memories, it can eliminate existing plaque and help DELETED more plaque growth. Hope your father has a good experience.
