Hello everyone:

I'm considering stem cell therapy. I'm wondering if anyone has gone down this path or know anything about it. I've researched it, but I think its pretty new in Alz treatment.

I wouldn't say stem cell therapy for AD is "pretty new". An August 2025 paper titled "Stem cell therapy offers new hope for the treatment of AD" (link below, the authors are from China) references papers from 2012 with stem cells ("Differentiating human stem cells into neurons and glial cells for neurl repair"). The last sentence in the abstract states "Although still in its early stages, the future of this therapeutic strategy holds great promise."

If you are considering participating in an AD clinical trial, I'm curious why you would choose to focus on stem cells. There are lots of trials with new drugs to treat AD. For example, Dr. Cummings annualy reviews the clinical trial pipeline by listing all the drugs being test in trials registered with the U.S. government (a requriement for all trials in the U.S.) His 2025 report found 138 drugs being assessed in 182 clinical trials.

I haven't read anything indicating that stem cell research has any better chance of helping with AD compared with other new drugs undergoing test.

I've asked my neurologist to get me in a clinical trial, so I'm on a "list" I guess. I'm not able to receive the infusions, so I'm just trying to find something.

All clinical trials are required to register with the U.S. government, which maintains an online database which has searching capability. A link to the website is below.
Under "Condition / Disease" you could enter "MCI" (Mild Cognitive Impairment, if that is your diagnosis) or perhaps just start typing "Alz" and you will see a a drop-down menu to select an option (i.e. "Alzheimer's Disease", "Alzheimer Disease", "Alzheimers Disease", and "Alzheimer Dementia").

Under "Location" enter the 5 digits of your zip code and you see another drop-down menu to select your location.

You can set the "Radius" to indicate how far you are willing to drive (1 to 500 miles).

Under "Study Status" select "Recruiting and not yet recruiting studies" (if you select "all" then the list will include completed studies, which you may intelectually be interested in but obviously wouldn't help you with your condition).

Then click the "Search" button in the lower right portion of the screen.

When I entered this info for my zip code, I received 33 studies in a 50 mile radius (that is the default distance).

The left portion of the screen allows you to "Focus your search" by unchecking the box for "Not yet recruiting" (presuming you aren't interested in trying to enroll in something that hasn't started yet).
