Tired
Sometimes life is just tiresome and I just need to vent. This is the scene; the weather here is hot 35c humid rainy and wet. I used to love this time of year swimming in the pool, sweaty bbq’s outside under a balmy night sky, walks along the beach (no swimming due to stingers and the occasional crocodile spotting) but now we can't cope with any of these things. The comfy place is on the couch with the tv and air conditioning going. Daughter asked could they come to our place for dinner their shout, said it would be easier for Dad, which I suppose it was but nothing is really easy or enjoyable anymore. After a lovely boisterous evening 3 big grandsons and their Dad, they left at about 9, 30 today we are both tired. DH is wandering almost staggering around picking on the neighbours saying they are evil which is frustrating for him anyway because of his Aphasia, having difficulty finding his mouth for his cereal and being generally antagonistic and he keeps looking for our other puppy (we only have one). Today I'm over it I shall grab a cat nap if I can. Thank you for letting me take up a bit of space in your life.

”looking for our other puppy”’
My DW would do the same, sometimes when we were walking our one dog she would suddenly look worried and look around and say with mild panic, “where is our other dog?” Fortunately it only took a little distraction to relax her. For a while she thought there were two (or more) of me so I suppose it’s no surprise it would be the same with our dog.

Venting is necessary to survive this disease as a caregiver, it's good for the soul. For those reading this it helps us know we are not alone. Some days are worse than others and tired seems like a perpetual state these days. Even things that used to be easy are so much harder now. We understand and are here for you. Vent as often as you need to. We are listening and we care about you.

My wife keeps wondering where the kid went. I don't know what kid. She is in MC so I only have to redirect her a couple of times while visiting. I used to like having people over now I am here alone and sometimes get lonely but I still don't really want a lot of visitors, but it would be nice to get a casserole once in a while or anything just to know that someone cared enough to think of me plus I don't really like cooking just for myself.

@BPS one Lamb shank virtual casserole coming up. Wish I was there to share with perhaps a good bottle of red.

We’re all on our own caregiver journey, but it’s funny how some things overlap. My DH was determined that we had two dogs, we only have one. He’d get upset because I never let the other dog in the house. I told him the two dogs can’t be in the house at the same time because they fight. One day I asked him what the name of the other dog was and he said, Wolf. I said, I like that name, that’s a good name. He said, well you should like it, you named him!

We are actually in a hotel right now. When we stayed here in the past, I was able to sleep in and DH would enjoy the free breakfast, and then bring me back a coffee and some bacon. Yum! Now, I need to go with him in case he forgets how to find the room, or how to use the coffee dispenser, or God forbid… forgets I'm here and leaves without me.
We are visiting our daughter and family. They have a lot going on in their home right now, so the hotel is a better option. But, in the room, DH is like a caged animal… pacing, constant questions. Whew! I did not foresee this a few years ago.
That said, I'm glad we are still able to visit the grandkids. It's what brings me the most joy! (A close second to a bottle of red wine… so Biggles, please save me a glass!) 😁

Vent away! It lets the steam off the pressure cooker of caregiving. My husband was in memory care in a room with another patient who didn't know his name or his wife but could name every puppy they ever had & thought they were still with him. 💜
