Hi,

Lately, I feel so tired and burnt out physically, mentally, and emotionally. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers in August. He started his first treat with Leqembi on Tuesday. He was sicker than a dog. I am watching my mom struggle to take care of him. I feel like I don't know what to do. I give my mom good advice. I am in 4 caregiving support groups for alzheimers. Im glad able to open up and my mom joins too. Can people give me some good advice.

I would call his doctor. There are serious side effects from Leqembi. Caring for someone with dementia is mentally and physically exhausting. You are right to worry about your Mom. Can you hire help? Caregiver, housekeeping. Have groceries delivered? Anything to take some stress off your Mom? Also for yourself. You may want to start looking at memory care facilities. So sorry about your Dad. 💜

My DW Doctor told me that Leqembi is not for everyone with dementia…it can have very serious side effects and can be fatal. The first medication her doctor wanted to prescribe was Donepezil but her EKG showed a problem with her QT interval on her heart so she was put on Memantine instead….not sure just how this is going to work she has just started it. I wish you the best.
