My patient is diagnosed with Dementia

Hi, I am a licensed Practical Nurse, the business owner for a caregiving service called ' Divine Home Care Services in Jamaica 🇯🇲. One of my patient has short term memory loss and Sundown Syndrome. She loves to eat snacks and not cook food but she's calm and kind. She gets confused when the sun sets. Time confusion & where she is but she always know when its supper time. Its hard to get her in the shower and to change her disposable underwear but other than that she is very sweet.

Welcome. Glad you’re here. The book “The 36 Hour Day” is very helpful. Also search online for dementia caregiving videos by Tam Cummings or Teepa Snow.

Caring for a patient with dementia and Sundown Syndrome can be challenging, especially with short-term memory loss and evening confusion. Maintaining a consistent routine, offering gentle reminders, using calm reassurance at sunset, and creating a well-lit, quiet environment can help reduce anxiety. For hygiene, try approaching showers earlier in the day, using simple step-by-step cues, and maintaining dignity and patience to make the process smoother.

By the way, you can read Surah Yasin PDF online with proper Arabic text and vowel marks, download it for offline reading, listen to audio recitation, and explore tafseer and meaning for a peaceful and meaningful experience.
