Alz w/brain bleed complication.

I have been diagnosed with Alz with the complication of excessive existing iron deposits. My neurologist is reluctant to prescribe either of the two infusions due to the risk of hemorrhaging.

I have two questions/requests.

Is there anyone out there that has this complication and has been prescribed a medication other than a memory drug? Is it working?

Does anyone know if there are any existing studies out there for this dilemma?

Please let me know. This a very scary place for me. Thanks.

PS: I may have posted this on someones thread inadvertently. My apologies, I'm new to this.

Hi. I take three non-infusion drugs for my Alzheimer's.

    Memantine ER 28mg

    Galantamine ER 16mg

    Donepezil HCL 10mg

    each once a day.

I took them for at least two to three years before I started on Leqembi. They were and are (I continue to take them) helpful for symptoms etc.

    Hope this helps.

nova1 Sounds like you have a good case of hemochromatosis my iron count was off the chart.with men this doesn't sho w up until around 60. probably had it my whole life common in anglo decent people. after a almost a2 years of weekly blood removal my count is back to normal and holding so far. as well i was informed i was not a candidate for the new procedures which i think are really more of a show and tell racket. i have been on doneprosil for my Alzheimers for over 2 years . suits me fine and testing every few months shows im stable in the alzy zone. one has to learn to be friends with our alzheimer’s because it is our last hurrah and its not going to slow me down un till it tries to play the last joke on me. so what did you forget today……………..

I have a similar problem in that I am on Eliquis twice a day and they won't treat me with the new drugs. I was diagnosed in April 2025 and my personal doctor suggested that I try Red Light Therapy since I could not take the new drugs. I found a few studies and individual accounts that suggest it may in fact be beneficial and didn't cause additional harm. I purchased a Neuronic Helmet ($1750.00) and worked with a local PHD who was working with Red Light Therapy.

In Sept 2025 I had a PET Scan that confirmed my diagnosis of MCI/Alz at UW Brain and Memory Center. The Neurologist said that I was at a very early stage with minor amounts of Plaque but said it was too dangerous to start any of the new infusions.

So far, my only problem is with vocabulary, and my wife believes the Red Light Therapy has helped. My observation is that when I was first diagnosed when I lost a word it was like looking into a black whole rather than just not remembering. I rarely feel that way now and I believe my ability to remember words has improved.

has anyone else used or researched the use of Red Light Therapy?

Thank each of you for your responses. I'm looking into each with my neurologist to see if these are option I could use.
