Funeral for a friend

The husband of a dear friend died and his funeral is at the church we used to attend tomorrow. I would like to attend but would need to bring my DH who now travels in a wheelchair due to falling issues. He's in stage 6. Would this be too much?

Can you get someone to be with him for those 2-3 hours ?

If you are having to watch and care for him -or he gets disruptive and you have to leave you won't get anything out of the service and worse impact your friend's time to mourn and get solace from the group.

He's very calm and quiet. I'm lucky in that he's always been laid back. That's never changed.

In this situation I think you’re the best judge of his probable behavior. Personally I could only guess at my own husband’s behavior.

Is your friend aware of his diagnosis? Do groups of people make him uncomfortable? I’d follow your instincts, maybe sit near an exit if needed.

I’m sorry about your dear friend’s husband.

For us going to a funeral would be so disorienting to DW. The spouse of a friend - DW wouldn't understand why she was there or what was going on. I think the rest of our day would be impacted by he attending. I hope you are able to get someone to watch him for a couple of hours.
