A bit of humor
My DH (mid-stage AD + Parkinsonism) now often struggles to name things. The other night he was standing at the kitchen sink, when this conversation ensued:
Him: Did you put the pill in the whirlpool?
Me: The whirlpool? What do you mean? (Thinking). Oh, do you mean did I put the soap pod in the dishwasher?
That was indeed the correct translation.

It's such a strange disease.

my DH mis names things often too, and I can usually figure out what he’s trying to say. He asked me recently what is wrong with him and I said that the doctor said he has chronic brain farts. Made him laugh. Humor is so important.

The funny thing is that I am so used to interpreting what he meant to say that I don't even notice it anymore. TY for the reminder that this is not normal. Enjoy the laughs and keep your sense of humor.

Literally, while I was reading this post, my DH asked if I knew where the "microflying" glass was. 🤔

A few months ago I asked my husband what he wanted for lunch. Him: one of those “round things with meat”. Since I had no clue I asked him to show me. Turned out he wanted a burrito.
He is late 4, early 5, and in addition to struggling to find words, he often gets timelines and stories confused. We have a neighbor in our rural area who has health and mobility challenges and is mostly home bound. These two talk on the phone frequently. It gets amusing when the neighbor has had a bit to drink and/or smoke and if my husband has having a particularly challenging day with words. They entertain, and seem to understand, each other. I’m grateful they both have someone to talk with.
