overnight pullups advice for incontinence

Hello wonderful people,

I was wondering if anyone has advice for a brand of overnight pull-ups that is the most absorbent. Lately my LO often soaks through even the brands that say they hold the most liquid.

He does sleep over 12 hours sometimes, so i know that would be a challenge for any product. Our family has tried Carewell and Tena (maybe also a Carewell product) - both claim to be super absorbent. Any advice would be most welcome, it's been daily laundry, plus worry over his skin condition - thank you!

It's hard to give advice on the best incontinence products as fit on the body is as critical as absorbency.

Many folks find it useful to order samples of different products from a place like Northshore. IME, the mail order companies offer superior products to what you can find in the grocery store. The shipping on the samples is a little slower than when you are a regular customer, btw.

I find that the Assurance brand from Walmart holds a lot, especially for the price. The overnight problem with my guy is his penis repositions and he pees around the absorbant part. His pants and the bed gets wet even if the pull up isn't saturated. I put several towels and pads under his midsection and wash them each day using the rinse and drain setting (without detergent) on my washer. They get clean (enough) and it only takes 20 minutes vs 60.

For my DH we have been using Dry Direct Super from Parentgiving. They have several options on the website. We also use soft washable pads under him and under the sheets, mattress cover. We have fewer nights of leaks now.

I get FitRight (made by Medline) from my wife's hospice. I put both a diaper and a brief on her. This keeps here pants dry most of the day.

Her pants and the bottom of her shirt are wet in the morning. I always make sure there is a pad on the bed.

It's not a brand, but a thought about decreasing the need. Often if someone will put their feet up for a half hour before bed, the fluid in their ankles can be reabsorbed. Then they can go to the bathroom or change the pullup before bed and there will be less urine overnight.

We mail ordered from Northshore Care. If you look at the specifications tab for each product, it shows its absorbency. The maximum for pull up brief style is around 38 oz, the tab style is closer to 50 oz. This is more than twice the absorbency of the typical Depends ones you find at the store. We used generic Sams Club pull up briefs for the day time since it was easier to change often and paid the extra money for the mail order ones for nights.

There are booster pads also, that fit inside the pull-ups for an extra layer of protection.

Definitely try the booster pads. They made a big difference for my husband. He also did better at night in a diaper rather than a pull up. The diapers seem to hold much more and stay in place. Absorbent pads underneath will help, too. Good luck!

I use Northshore GoSupreme for my DH and highly recommend them. He is resistant to my changing him so I only change him twice a day. They are very absorbant. You can order them from Amazon as well as from Northshore website.

We use a "draw sheet." We take a flat sheet, place an absorbent pad in the area where my husband's hips will be, and then fold the sheet over the pad. We place the draw sheet across the fitted sheet and tuck it in on both sides. If his Carewell overnight garment leaks, we can usually just pull off the draw sheet. I got this tip from The 36 Hour Day.

Thanks to whoever mentioned booster pads, I am going to try them.
