Vitamin B12 1000 MCG
When we went to our Neurologist for the first time in February, he noticed that my DH's Vitamin B was very low so he advised us to take 1000 MCG per day. After 2 months of taking it, I noticed some real changes in my DH. More REAL conversations, less shuffling of his feet and much less napping during the day. We had our followup appointment this past week, I let him know of the improvements and we had a blood draw to see his Vitamin D levels
In the 3 month period, it has doubled, still on the low side of "normal" but I'm hoping this will keep these old behaviors at bay. Don't get me wrong, he still loses things every day like keys, remote, wallet, but the improvements I've seen have made things a little easier for me. Hopefully the Vitamin B will continue to rise.
Just thought I'd throw that out there for others to check into.

I'm sorry……it's Vitamin B12 that he is taking now.

Low Vit B12 will cause confusion and lethargy. It should be checked in all our loves ones. Thyroid is another area that should be ruled out early on.

Nice to see something that helps and so glad you found it for your loved one. Anything that helps your DH have a better day, which translates to a better day for you as well, it good news.

My step-dad was tested and had low B12. In his case, the doctor says pills wouldn’t work so he got a monthly B12 shot. It seemed to help for a while.
The reason he was tested? He woke up from a nap and accused my mother of having an affair. They had been living in an assisted living center for a couple years by then and mom had dementia. There was no way she was having an affair. There were some other odd things going on with him. He was due for his annual CT scan of his neck and lungs for his recurrent thyroid cancer so I called and asked if they would add a scan of his head in case he had a brain tumor. They did ( no brain tumor) and did bloodwork that found the low B12 level.
