Early Onset In Person Groups

My brother was diagnosed 6 months ago with Alzheimer’s after a very long 2 year period of many appointments and tests. He is 61. I’m trying to find him an in-person group in the Los Angeles area with others with early onset. He currently does a virtual program but I think in-person with others closer to his age would be beneficial. Is anyone aware of one? He tried one but the group was much older so it wasn’t a good fit for him. Unfortunately and surprisingly, I can’t seem to find anything. Thanks for any help!

What do you expect to gain with a group? Not trying to sound snarky, honestly curious

A group would help with socializing outside of immediate family. Help with confidence and practice communicating with others. Spending time with others who can relate with what he’s going through. A lot of programs play brain games, chat about topics, do art and other activities that help keep the brain challenged. It’s something he can look forward to each week.

These things may be helpful very early in the dementia journey. At some point PWD have completely different needs and desires. I hope you find something that works for your LO.
