Where Are They Now?
Do you feel that your loved one is still present for you in some way? Are you surprised at times by a sound, a smell, a touch that feels as if from your loved one? Can you feel them near you somewhere in some way? Do you talk to them (I do) and feel you get some form of a response? Do you find being at their grave peaceful and calming, or not?
I am just curious about our different thoughts on where our loved one is now that their physical presence is over. Can we "let them go"? Do we want to do so? Do we need to do so?
I Know we all may have a different view and each is correct. This is asked in the possibility that one person's thoughts may be helpful or useful for another. I know as I have talked with others on this question, my feelings and perspective have changed, broadened and helped me begin to find some peace.
This is not asked to promote anyone's belief or point of view or to create arguments, but only to expand our knowledge for each to use the information as each sees fit.

Such an interesting question, harshed.
I talk to my Suzie every day. I do feel her presence around me still, but no answers and I don't feel anything physical. Just her spirit. I'm an agnostic, but certainly believe there's something bigger than us out there that we just can't understand. At some point in my walks when I had caregivers, I hit upon the idea of Suze's loving, kind, bright, big light turning back into its purest form of warming light. It's stuck with me. My Suze is the sun keeping me warm now. Perhaps I sound silly, but it's been a comfort.
I also feel quite deeply that she's left of part of her with me. I hear her voice when I make decisions or laugh about certain things. I hope that feeling never goes away.

Thanks for sharing that. I too believe that my DW is still with me but in a different form I cannot see or touch but can feel. I believe her life energy remains even as her physical body faded away. Her signs come to me in feelings, thoughts, symbols such as a specific phrase in a book, finding some item lost in the house years ago of hers, etc. I also talk to my DW all the time and cry so often as I do. I have come to believe more and more that the descriptions of life after in many formal religions are just different ways to say the same thing. We are energy in one form as we are alive and a different form when we have left that physical body. Our energy is is permanent. It is just the form it takes that changes. We feel the energy of our loved one and translate it into ways our brain can understand, thus the "signs" we receive. I find my place of greatest peace of mind and heart when at the cemetery at her grave. So many say that the person is not there, their "soul" has left. Maybe so but when I am sitting there with the only physical aspect of her that remains, why am I so peaceful? Why do I so want to stay there in that place of peace? Maybe it is because her energy resides there still and I am closest to it there? Interesting thoughts and I hope others will offer their thoughts. I find it helpful to learn more and more about how others feel about this question.
