Funny (or not) story:
When my mom lived alone, 4 hours from me, and no one checking on her, she gave me permission to install a camera that could show her kitchen and livingroom area. It gave me peace of mind that I could check she was okay or at least moving into areas of her home. I was able to see she was eating dinner etc. My mom was good with it. Then when she moved near me, in AL, she also agreed to move the camera into her living room. It helped me a lot as she was getting acclimated to her new place. Then once, I saw the last image of her getting close to it and then DARK! She told me she threw it down the garbage shoot in the hallway! We talked and she again agreed she wanted someone to be able to see into her apartment (living area only). I could also see when she left the apartment because her key on the wall would be gone. I was out of the country, and same thing - POOF it went dark. She threw the new one again down the garbage shoot!!

I gave up and gave her privacy! I understand! But down the garbage shoot???

I do use Find My on my phone to track if she is in her apartment or somewhere else in the building. I can then determine if she went down for breakfast or was participating in a program. Sigh. . . .

Throwing stuff away seems to be a constant. My grandmother wrapped stuff up in tissue and threw it away: all her jewelry and any valuables she still had when she got to assisted living. Some have mentioned to me that the staff may have taken items, and I recognize that, but I think she threw most of it away, wrapped in Kleenex.
