Seeking a Large Visual Memory System and Apple Watch for Safer Independent Living

Hi everyone,

My name is Christopher. I want to be transparent that I have medically documented mild cognitive impairment and post-concussion symptoms following motor-vehicle accidents, rather than a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. I am posting here because many members have valuable lived experience with visual memory aids, routines, reminders, safety technology, and home systems that support cognitive independence.

I am a wheelchair user preparing to establish accessible independent housing in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to mild cognitive impairment, I experience significant mobility limitations, recurrent falls, foot drop, reduced endurance, and difficulty independently organizing and completing daily activities.

I am building a simplified assistive-technology system that will serve as the central accessible command center for my home. I am specifically seeking help locating, funding, or obtaining:

* A 27-inch Skylight Calendar Max
* An Apple Watch, preferably with cellular service and Fall Detection(pairing with my already purchased IPad for the hub)

The 27-inch display is medically and functionally important because my cognitive limitations affect memory, attention, processing speed, executive functioning, and my ability to organize several responsibilities on a small phone screen. I need information to remain large, continuously visible, and available at a glance, rather than hidden behind multiple apps, menus, or notifications.

The display would help me manage:

* medical and therapy appointments;
* medication reminders;
* transportation schedules;
* household responsibilities;
* deadlines and required paperwork;
* caregiver and emergency information;
* step-by-step daily routines; and
* important visual prompts that I might otherwise forget.

The larger screen is not simply a preference or convenience. It would reduce cognitive load, improve visual recognition, reinforce consistent routines, and help prevent missed appointments, forgotten instructions, medication errors, and breakdowns in daily care.

The Apple Watch would provide a portable layer of support when I am away from the large display or unable to immediately reach my phone. Because I use mobility equipment and experience recurrent falls, wrist-based reminders, voice access, emergency communication, location sharing, Fall Detection, and wheelchair accessibility features would meaningfully improve my safety and independence.

Together, these devices would create one connected accessibility system:

Large, continuously visible organization inside my home, with portable reminders and emergency access on my wrist.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with large digital calendars, visual memory systems, Apple Watch safety features, or similar technology for cognitive impairment.

I am also seeking information regarding:

* assistive-technology funding programs;
* disability grants or charitable equipment programs;
* Alzheimer’s, dementia, brain-injury, or cognitive-support organizations that may know of funding resources;
* manufacturer donation or accessibility contacts;
* refurbished, demonstration, or open-box equipment;
* university or rehabilitation-technology pilot programs;
* professionals who could evaluate or document this setup as an assistive-technology need; or
* an organization or sponsor willing to provide either device directly.

I am not asking individual community members to purchase these items for me. I am asking for lived experience, professional connections, legitimate funding leads, equipment programs, or organizations that may be able to help.

I can provide medical documentation, functional evaluations, disability verification, equipment specifications, and provider letters directly to any legitimate organization reviewing my request.

Thank you for any guidance, personal experience, resource connections, funding leads, or equipment-assistance programs this community may be able to share.

The Skylight Calendar Max is currently offered as a 27-inch touchscreen, and Apple documents both Fall Detection and wheelchair-specific accessibility features on supported Apple Watches.

    Hi Christopher,

    I didn't even know about a digital calendar! I have some research to do. I use an Apple Watch. I'm not sure about the adaptive settings, but I find it very helpful in remembering appointments, etc. It connects to my computer and they work together.

    I have had experience with the fall detection. My Mother fell wearing an Apple Watch, and it didn't work. There are a lot of parameters, how fast you fall etc. My mother fell "softly". But it's definitely not 100% accurate. But for the calendar appointments, it's excellent. It also shows GPS.

    I think it's worth getting. Good Luck! (You've probably already posted on GoFundMe.com?)
