Bed ridden, never happy, VD

New here. My mother has VD. Broke her femur in May, nursing home in June. She is in physical therapy but doesn't remember her sessions. It's like starting over every day. My visits are filled with her tears, wanting to die, etc. I have stopped going every other day because she doesn't know/remember if I was there. Wearing on me mentally. Suggestions?

    Hi Upiland - welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason.

    MIL is still on her mild anti-depressant from her beginning stages. We've had no reason to discontinue it, but it did help, and guess it still does. Do tell your mom's doctor.

    And yes, it does wear on us!

    I don't blame you a bit for wanting to spread out your visits. You need to look after your own health too. I also suggest speaking with her physician about this behavior. Medication may help. I'm sorry you and your family are on this roller coaster ride called dementia.
